And your city experiences don’t need to be confined to daylight hours, as many people enjoy “midnight monumenting” after the tourists have turned in for the night.

 

The George Washington University offers several styles of housing. The suite/apartment style living options offer a private bathroom and kitchen, these include The Buff & Blue, The Monumental, The Capital, and The Fraternity & Sorority housing. The traditional residence hall housing can have private or adjoined bathrooms and come with a mini fridge and microwave, but do not have an individual kitchen, these halls include The Revolutionary and The Raise High, and these each have a laundry facility in the building. All housing options are fully furnished, have air conditioning, and access to a laundry facility (coin operated) in the building except for The Capital. This may be the perfect spot to live for your internship if you are not used to the city or prefer to stay on the outskirts of the bustling energy. You can find lots of things to do around GMU, including catching a concert or performance at EagleBank Arena, a variety of eateries and boutiques at the University Mall, and if you enjoy recreational sports like golfing, there is the Country Club of Fairfax bordering campus.

 

George Mason University offers one of the most state-of-the-art campuses that is both safe and comfortable. The housing buildings, Liberty Square and Potamic Heights, offer fully-furnished apartments that suit 2-5 interns per space, with the option of single or double occupancy bedrooms and full kitchens. Apartments are air conditioned and interns have access to laundry and Wi-Fi. On-campus, you can find Panera, Chipotle, and Starbucks for easy dining options, as well as the Mason Shuttle and Fairfax CUE Bus for transportation services. The Catholic University of America is in Northeast Washington D.C., near the boarder of Maryland and is near the Smithsonian Museums, the National Mall, beautiful monuments and sculptures, many national parks, and a variety of diverse international cuisines. The campus is conveniently served by the Metrorail Red Line, allowing for easy travel to the surrounding area.

 

The housing options on Catholic University of America’s campus include the suite-style rooms of Centennial Village Hall, and dorm-style rooms in the residence halls of Caldwell Hall and Seton Wing. All halls are fully furnished, air conditioned, have Wi-Fi, and feature a community lounge, kitchen, and laundry facility available for all interns. Additional perks to living on CUA’s campus include access to the pool room, basketball courts, fitness center, computer labs, printing services, 24 hour on-call staff, in room microwave and refrigerator, tennis courts, and a Starbucks on campus. Interns are welcome to eat the daily hot breakfast provided most days and/or weekend brunch. Interns are assigned an intern housing coordinator who serves as the primary liaison during your stay. Hughes Hall offers traditional dorm-style living with a private bedroom and communal bathroom and kitchen. Federal Hall has suite-style rooms with a private bedroom and bathroom, with a communal kitchen. Nebraska Hall offers apartment-style living that features 2-to-4-bedrooms, with a full kitchen and bathroom private to each apartment. All rooms come fully furnished, including complimentary full linen sets, mini-fridge, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, free laundry, cable readiness, and utilities at no additional fee. On-campus perks include access to the fitness facility and the AU Shuttle at no additional cost.

Georgetown University offers two options for interns: Main Campus – this setting is ideal if your internship is placed in Georgetown, as this area does not have direct access to a metro line, the campus offers a shuttle Rosslyn & Dupont Stations to counter this drawback. If you choose to stay on Main Campus it would make a gorgeous backdrop to your summer experience. There are lots of options to explore as well, like the Georgetown Waterfront ParkDumbarton Oaks Museum, and the Tudor Place Historic House. The other location is The Downtown Building – located just a few blocks from the U.S. CapitolUnion StationCapital One Arena, and numerous transportation options. This option puts you in the center of the bustling city for easy connections if your internship is near the heart of the city.

 

Both of Georgetown University’s housing options offering something different for perspective interns. Their scenic Main Campus in Georgetown offers interns the choice between a single bedroom or shared bedroom, both in a shared apartment. Interns here have access to the gym at Yates Field house and study spaces on campus. The other housing option is the brand-new Downtown Building which features new, modern apartment-style units of 4-bedroom, 2-baths. Shared spaces include a penthouse fitness center with expansive views of D.C., a penthouse community center, and multiple study-lounges. The lobby features a café and Sweetgreen lunch drop-off. International Student House offers three buildings: the Main Building, Van Slyck, and Marpat. The room options in these buildings are quad, triple, double, and single room; all are fully furnished.
