About Us

The Ohio State University Office of Student Life Events and Conferences offers a unique 12-week summer housing program for interns, researchers, and other guests from Mid-May through the beginning of August. Participants do not need to be an Ohio State University student to enroll in our Summer Intern Housing Program. In fact, that is why this program exists, to offer affordable, short term housing for students across the world to support their learning at an internship and to support the students of OSU and their internships.

The Ohio State University, a vibrant academic haven nestled in heart of Columbus, Ohio has a legacy spanning over 150 years. Our sprawling campus is centrally located within Columbus, in close proximity to the Short North Arts District, the vibrant nightlife of downtown, shopping districts, and hundreds of central Ohio companies.

All Summer Housing participants will reside in on-campus buildings designated specifically for the program. Participants in this program must be at least 18 years of age or older and must stay for at least a two day period.

The Office of Student Life Events and Conferences has the resources to help you set up a first-rate Summer Housing experience and make the most of your time in Columbus, Ohio and the surrounding areas.

Housing Options
For summer 2025 on the Columbus campus, we will be utilizing 2 types of housing.

Option 1: A standard dorm room without a kitchen includes beds, desks, desk chairs, window coverings, trash can/recycle bin, closet or wardrobe unit, and refrigerator/microwave unit. Residents will have access to a communal kitchen in the residence hall equipped with a sink, stove, oven, fridge, and microwave, though cooking accessories must be provided by the residents. Bathroom arrangements vary by residence hall; some rooms include a private bathroom that is cleaned only before move-in and after departure, while others use communal bathrooms with individual locking stalls (typically 4-8 per floor), which are cleaned daily by the cleaning service.

Option 2: Residence hall with kitchens offers spacious accommodations with all the comforts of home. Rooms are fully furnished and include beds, desks, desk chairs, window coverings, trash/recycling bins, and closet or wardrobe units. Each room features a refrigerator, sink, microwave, stove, oven, and ample storage space for cooking and dining needs. A cozy living room, complete with a couch, provides a comfortable space for relaxing or socializing. Residents also enjoy the convenience of a private bathroom, ensuring a sense of privacy and comfort. This setup is perfect for those seeking a more independent living experience.

Interns assigned to a Single Room with a Kitchen will enjoy the privacy of an individual room and bathroom. Each room is part of a shared suite setup, where the kitchen and living room areas are communal spaces, shared with one other intern. To ensure compatibility, a suitemate survey will be conducted, matching individuals based on similar habits and preferences. For example, intern placements may be arranged as follows: Ryan in Room 250A and Blake in Room 250B.

Interns assigned to a Double Room with a Kitchen will enjoy the privacy of an individual room and bathroom within a shared suite. Each suite accommodates four interns total, with two interns per room, sharing a common kitchen and living room area. To promote compatibility, a suitemate survey will be conducted, matching individuals based on similar habits and preferences. For example, placements may be arranged as follows: Ryan and Blake in Room 250A, and Alex and Jordan in Room 250B.
